Project

The aim of this project was to explore teamwork, mutual trust and roles in a team within the context of a clear goal-oriented task. By placing the participants in an environment where the entire floor is a balancing board they are encouraged to participate and work together to successfully complete the task at hand.

What?

The Balancing Act is an exploratory design of teamwork and mutual trust. Step up on the board together with a friend or foe and try to collect as many points as possible by navigating your way through the maze.

Who?

Designed for team building, this collaborative interactive experience is perfect for families, groups of friends, coworkers, or project teams. It is a unique and enjoyable way to strengthen connections while having a good time and creating lasting bonds among participants.

Why?

In summary, "The Balancing Act" serves as a dynamic platform for individuals and groups to come together, enhance their teamwork skills, and enjoy each other's company.

The prototype

The final prototype, a high-fidelity prototype was created as a proof of concept. The materials used are 18 mm plywood for the base, frame and walls of the labyrinth and assembled with wood glue and plugs. Plexiglas was used to cover the top of the maze, allowing stability for the user to walk on the top of the platform while simultaneously allowing the transparency needed to see the maze below it. A balancing board was attached to the bottom, using two-part epoxy and screws.
