01. Try the experience

Imagine an alternate universe where Zlatan Ibrahimović competes against Sarah Sjöström in the Olympic table tennis final. The crowd roars with every serve, both competitors reacting with breakneck speed and the tension is almost unbearable.

Imagine no longer. The Dream Maker can make all of your sports dreams come true.

02. Concept

This project re-imagines museum interactivity by allowing visitors to experience fictional historical sporting events as if they were happening live, without knowing the outcome. By mixing nostalgia, curiosity and absurd match-ups like Gunde Svan vs. Glenn Hysén in basketball, we stimulate engagement and invite users to explore sports history from a new angle. While the events are invented, the goal is real: to deepen appreciation for real historical moments and to give museum visitors a more immersive, memorable experience.

The Dream Maker lets you create imaginary sporting events where your favorite athletes team up, or face off, in matchups that could never happen in real life. Use the controller to explore the options on the TV, make your picks, then sit back and experience a one of a kind broadcast made just for you.

03. Control

The control is thoughtfully designed with elements combining futuristic Sci-Fi tech and nostalgic retro. It is an easy to control handheld device which allows the user to interact with the Interface directly. Rotating the turnable right part of the device is akin to scrolling with a computer mouse, allowing the user to seamlessly scroll through the available options. The left hand controls the three buttons that allows the user to step back and forth as well as confirm their choices. The simple control device is intuitive and makes use of familiar elements for a simple but impactful usage.

04. Display

Leveraging a television screen with over fifty years of history, it felt only natural to embrace its retro character in the design of the interface. Drawing inspiration from classic arcade game menus and early video game consoles, the aesthetic evokes a sense of nostalgia for many users. The vintage screen presented both exciting challenges and creative opportunities. With its black-and-white display and limited resolution, the design had to be both functional and visually compelling within tight constraints. The result is a clean, pixelated interface with a strong, consistent visual flow—guiding users seamlessly through the experience of crafting their dream sports event.

05. Audio

It was vital for us to find a voice that could give the same immersion and energy as professional sports commentators to give a deeper connection to the experience. We wanted to minimize the "off" feeling one can get when listening to AI generated speech. To achieve this we tried out multiple different AI prompt formats, feeding the AI with context information and directives to generate audio grounded in reality. We based this on tha assumption that references to relevant facts and happenings will make the fictive sports events more immersive.
